| Intended use | Wij’s solution is analytical reagent used to determine the iodine value of a substance. | |||
| Principle And Interpretation | Fatty acids present in sample reacts with excess of Wij’s solution. Unreacted Wij’s solution is then allowed to react with potassium iodide, converting it to iodine, whose concentration can be determined by titration with sodium thiosulfate to determine iodine value of sample. | |||

Keep only in original container. Ground/bond container and receiving equipment. Use explosion-proof electrical/ventilating/ lighting equipment. Use only non-sparking tools. Take precautionary measures against static discharge. Avoid breathing dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/ spray. Wash thoroughly after handling. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Avoid release to the environment. Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection. Response: IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water. IF ON SKIN (or hair): Remove/Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water/shower. IF SWALLOWED: Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. IF INHALED: Remove to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Immediately call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Absorb spillage to prevent material damage. |
